The speaker is Dr John Waithaka.
Dr John Waithaka lived and grew up adjacent to the Aberdare National Park and Forest Reserve in Kenya and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Botany and Zoology (University of Nairobi), MSc in Biology of Conservation (University of Nairobi) and a Ph.D. in Zoology (Kenyatta University, Nairobi). He has a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked at the Kenyatta University, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Africa Conservation Center (ACC) and Parks Canada. He is the current Chair Board of Trustees – KWS; Vice Chair – IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) for East and Southern Africa; and member of the IUCN-UNESCO World Heritage Panel.
Dr John Waithaka will speak on the status of wildlife conservation in Kenya including lessons learnt and how to overcome current challenges.
